Design Strategies moves from California to Clearwater, Florida!
Taking advantage of unique opportunities in the Sunshine State, we packed up and headed east to the land of oranges and hurricanes. Fortunately all 4 of the season's storms missed us completely and all is well. Our new offices are swell and about 3 miles from the beach. What's changed? Not a thing! We still service our clients in California, Illinois, New Jersey, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Canada, England, The Netherlands and Germany like we did before, creating killer designs that people love. We've already picked up some great new clients in Florida and love our new place way down south, y'all. Click to see map.

Adobe Systems awards DSI a copy of Adobe Creative Suite software
Adobe's new Creative Suite software contains the latest versions of their graphics creation programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive, Acrobat and VersionCue. It's the best software we've ever used for creating absolutely top-notch graphic design. We were awarded a copy of the suite of programs for our help and feedback over the years. Thanks Mark!

www.Office.com features interview with Len Williams about logo design
Our fearless leader and creative director was interviewed by Office.com about the basics of logo design and the importance of surveys and research in the design process. The story was entitled "What Does Your Logo Say About You?" Unfortunately the text of the article is no longer available online.

Designs created by DSI used in trade show demonstrations of GoClick 3.0 software
Designs created in QuarkXPress by Len Williams that were used during the testing of ALAP's ImagePort 1.0 software (see below) were requested to be used by GoClick software to demonstrate how Quark files can be easily converted to HTLM (web) format, thus allowing repurposing of legacy Quark files. Design Tools Monthly acquired the rights to use the images in trade show demonstrations around the world.

ALAP software uses quote and photograph of Len Williams to promote their latest release, ImagePort 1.0
Besides being the main creative force behind Design Strategies, Len also does a fair amount of beta testing of various software products for companies such as A Lowly Apprentice Productions (ALAP). ImagePort is a QuarkXPress 4 XTension that allows designers to import unflattened Photoshop files into Quark, thus eliminating the need to flatten the files. This is a technical matter that is absolutely wonderful for Quark designers but won't mean a thing to most people. Len's face and quote recommending the software appeared at several trade shows, and were recently spotted on brochures that are being sent out with every copy of QuarkXPress sold around the world. Len's quote and photo also appear on ALAP's site.

DSI does extensive testing for Extensis Software
Extensis Software of Portland, Oregon, produces a wonderful line of plug-in software that extends the functionality of various design-related programs such as QuarkXPress and Adobe Photoshop. Len Williams was a member of the beta testing team for five products and received writeups on Extensis' web site showing how he uses two Extensis products: QX Effects 3.0 and MaskPro. The writeups were the result of two interviews conducted by Mark Neimen Ross. The QX Effects 3.0 interview is still available on the Extensis site.
